Minnesota Retriever Championship
September 15, 2019 (Tentative)
Formerly known as the Minnesota Master Retriever Championship, this event was established in 2007 as a showcase for the top retrievers in the state and the Greater Minnesota Hunt Test Association. It has become a tradition for this event to be held on the beautiful grounds of the Kettle River Retriever Group near Hinckley, Minnesota in September. Junior, Senior and Master stakes are offered with placements, ribbons and prizes awarded in all three levels!
Youth Training Day
The mission statement of The GMHTA states our desire to introduce young people to the retriever sports. Since 2013 we have supported and funded youth training days to expose young people to retriever training and handling. The seminars have been free of charge to youth between the ages of 8 and 18 years of age. Regardless of whether or not the young person has previous experience or perhaps even a retriever of their own, we have brought together the young handlers with experienced amateur and professional retriever trainers for a day's worth of training and fun. The event has moved through various sites within the GMHTA member clubs and has had the support of a number of professional trainers who have donated their time and expertise to mentor the young participants.
We do anticipate the youth training days to continue into 2019, but at this moment no details have yet been determined. Announcements of future events will be posted on the GMHTA website, gmhta.org and the GMHTA Facebook page.
